Property Description

Set in the Garden County's rolling hills, close to Powerscourt Waterfall, this achingly pretty country house offers over 577.75sq.m / 6,219sq.ft living space. Superbly proportioned rooms lend grace and elegance, with the principal orientation designed to maximise the panoramic views down the valley to the Sugarloaf Mountain and out over the Irish Sea. Lots of design features are incorporated - from the custom kitchen to stylish luxury bathroom suites - but, if first impressions really count, the reception hall with its dramatic staircase, gallery, and welcoming open fireplace set the tone for what follows.

Enniskerry is one of Ireland's most loved villages, situated in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains just 24km South of Dublin. Thanks to its great location at the gateway to County Wicklow, The Garden of Ireland, and its unique character Enniskerry is one of Ireland's most popular and well visited villages.

Enniskerry features superb tearooms, shops, guesthouses and hotels as well as a host of picture postcard cottages and a charming village triangle centred around its clock tower. Enniskerry boasts three superb golf courses and a variety of other leisure amenities including Powerscourt Estate which features beautiful gardens, shops and Ireland's highest waterfall.

Enniskerry has a rich Victorian heritage, which is one of the reasons it regularly attracts film and television crews seeking to capture both modern-day spirit and historical charm against a backdrop of stunning scenery.

Enniskerry is a great place to stay, with a wonderfully strong sense of community. The picturesque village boasts local neighbourhood shops, interesting art galleries and curios / antiques, and a DART shuttle service. Powerscourt Estate with its eclectic mix of retail galleries and Italianate gardens is at hand, as is the Ritz-Carlton Hotel; and Avoca Handweavers' Glencormac is within minutes' drive.

A dream location for hill-walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts, Enniskerry appeals also to those keen on country life, equestrian pursuits etc; with Roundwood Lakes a short drive away, and shore-angling off several nearby east coast beaches.

The rural backdrop and timeless views out to sea framed by the Sugarloaf mountains bely the level of amenity with convenient access to the N11 / M11 and M50; and country living in touch with suburban convenience. Nearby Avoca Handweavers at Kilmacanogue, Enniskerry Village, Delgany, Greystones and Bray lend huge choice for shopping or eating out; with golfers well catered for with renowned golf courses close at hand including Powerscourt, DunLaoghaire Golf Club at Ballyman, also Druids Glen Golf and Country Club.

Enniskerry offers a wonderful combination of peaceful village atmosphere and close proximity to Dublin city centre. It is well serviced by public transport, with several Dublin Bus services stopping in the village and the DART and Luas (Green Line) light rail services passing within 10 minutes drive of the village. Dublin Airport is only 45 minutes by car. The nearest large town is Bray, about 10 minutes by bus or car.

Dublin Bus
Timetables and route maps for Dublin bus services are available Route 44 and Route 185.

Luas
The Luas (Green Line) is only 10 minutes by car from Enniskerry, this takes you all the way to St. Stephens Green in the city centre.

DART
The DART goes through Bray, about a 10 minute drive from Enniskerry. You can take a 185 Dublin Bus route from Bray to Enniskerry.

Knockbawn House is a home stay for the discerning - a level of attention to detail in design and workmanship sets it apart. The open plan intercommunicating nature of the reception accommodation renders it ideal for entertaining as well as promoting family life on the grand scale!

A magnificent staircase from the reception hall sets the tone for what follows; a particular favourite of ours being the hexagonal drawingroom with its vaulted ceiling and panoramic windows.
