Property Description
This delightful cottage, 'A Home from Home' is situated in Cara
Bay off the river estuary and in the historical village of
Culdaff. The cottage has five bedrooms, a large kitchen and dining
area with all amenities, three bathrooms, a comfortable living
area with a traditional fireplace, as well as patio area and
barbeque.
From the driveway to the front door there are no inclines or
steps, which allows easy wheel chair access.
The village of Culdaff is a five minute walk away and the beach is
a mile away.
Culdaff itself is visually charming, its present layout dating
back to the 18th century. McGrorys is a well known family run pub
in Culdaff, established in 1924, noted for its fine food,
traditional Irish music and warm welcome. On the premises is the
famous Macs backroom bar, - one of Irelands premier live music
venues featuring artists from all over the world.
Culdaff lies in the northern part of the Inishowen peninsula, - a
unique, scenic microcosm of all that Ireland has to offer. The
Inishowen Peninsula The Isle of Owen is bounded by the Atlantic
ocean in the north, Lough-Swilly to the west and Lough Foyle in
the east. The historical city of Derry is situated at the south
eastern edge of the peninsula, while its southernmost boundary is
overlooked by the ancient stone ring fort known as the Grianan of
Aileach. The peninsula has spectacular scenic drives, including
the famous Inishowen 100. - This self drive tour which is roughly
100km long, includes Buncrana, Dunree Head, Leenan Head,
Ballyliffin, Malin Head, Culdaff, Moville, Greencastle, Inishowen
Head and Muff on its route. There are many natural attractions
with some of the most breathtaking scenery for miles.
In the summer months, the driver can extend the tour across the
northern part of Ireland by making use of the ferry service
available from Buncrana to Rathmullan across the Swilly, and from
Greencastle to Magilligan Point across the Foyle.
Shore walks, Hill walking, Fishing and Sea Angling, Sailing,
Surfing and Swimming, are just some of the activities available
for the more energetic. For the golfing enthusiast, the well known
Golf Club at Ballyliffin is not far, and there are also golf clubs
at Greencastle, Buncrana, and Redcastle.
